Meet Kaylyn

Kaylyn is a senior at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD pursuing a bachelor’s degree in journalism and English. Originally from Aberdeen, SD, Kaylyn went to Roncalli High School where she wrote for the newspaper, The Cavalcade, played varsity tennis, danced at Living Art dance studios and on the high school dance team, was a cheerleader and served as co-editor for the yearbook. She graduated with honors in May of 2013.

After making the decision to attend Augustana University (formerly Augustana College), Kaylyn wrote for the school’s newspaper, the Mirror, and became a section editor on the yearbook, the Edda, to gain journalistic experience and pursue her passion for writing. In the summer of 2014 she was the reporting intern at her hometown newspaper, the Aberdeen American News, writing news, feature, business and profile stories while also making videos and covering the annual Brown County Fair. This past summer Kaylyn worked as an intern at 605 Magazine, writing for the Health section and creating blogs that explored the local restaurant scene.

Now in her fourth and final year at Augie, Kaylyn is co-editor-in-chief of the Edda, co-editor of the Mirror’s Variety section, and serves on the homecoming committee as a Dignitaries co-chair. Outside of school she works as the publicity assistant for Adam Weber, lead pastor of Embrace Church as he gets ready to release his first book, Talking with God, handles all social media and photography for the downtown Sioux Falls boutique Man Code, freelances for She Magazine and writes for the fashion and culture blog Couture in the Suburbs as their Sioux Falls contributor.

After graduation Kaylyn hopes to write for a magazine or newspaper and continue her love of storytelling.

When she’s not writing, editing or reading Kaylyn enjoys adventuring around Sioux Falls with friends, traveling to new places, attempting to cook, taking pictures, watching classic movies and spending time with family, including her dog, Cavvie.
